Villa captured an early advantage at home against West Ham. However, a second half tally from the visitors resigned Villa to a second straight draw.
Wolves’ chaotic match against Arsenal, which saw two players sent off, ended in a 1-0 defeat for Vitor Pereira’s side. That dropped Wolves into the relegation zone.

Based on Wolves’ lackluster defense and Villa’s injury concerns, my Wolves vs. Aston Villa prediction is the Total Over 2.5 Goals (-155).
This match presents a terrible spot for Aston Villa.
After playing in the midweek for the Champions League, they face a trip on short rest.
Even more concerning are the mounting defensive injuries for Unai Emery’s squad. Pau Torres and Tyrone Mings are out and Villa just sold Diego Carlos.
That means one of Ian Maatsen or Lucas Digne, a natural left back, will likely play central defense at Wolves.
Wolves did well at Villa Park, generating 1.1 post-shot expected goals against a then fully healthy Villa defense.
Plus, Wolves created at least one post-shot xG in three straight prior to their failure against Arsenal, the league’s best defense.
But Wolves struggled immensely in the reverse fixture against Villa.
