Young flyweight contenders Imanol Rodriguez and Alden Coria will battle at UFC 332 for a chance to inch closer to the division’s top 15 rankings, as they collide on Saturday at Delta Center in Salt Lake City.

Because of his better pro MMA record, Rodriguez heads into the match as the betting favorite with -150 UFC odds. Coria, on the other hand, is going to be the betting underdog with +125 odds.

UFC 332: Imanol Rodriguez vs. Alden Coria: Prediction

A decision win for Rodriguez is my prediction over Coria because he has the option to take Coria down and make this fight a wrestling and grappling-heavy affair. Both fighters have incredible punching power, but I think Rodriguez will showcase his grappling acumen.

By taking the fight down to the ground, Rodriguez will not only nullify the threat of Coria’s striking, but he’ll also remove his advantages in height, reach and leg reach. This matters because Coria is an equally talented striker, and every inch in the stand-up battle counts.

Rodriguez also must learn from his two previous fights that opponents tag him in the opening exchanges because he’s a slow starter. He often downloads information first before letting go of his hands, but he can’t afford to let Coria find his rhythm because he’s hard to stop once he has momentum.

Imanol Rodriguez’ Recent Fight Results

Rodriguez was a former The Ultimate Fighter 22 semifinalist, but earned his contract at Dana White’s Contender Series in October with a first-round finish of Roque Conceicao. He made his octagon debut in March, stopping Kevin Borjas in the second round.

Alden Coria’s Recent Fight Results

Coria was a former top contender at Fury Fighting Championship and LFA before the UFC signed him last year. Since then, he has won all his fights under the promotion, beating Alessandro Costa, Luis Gurule, and Stewart Nicoll.
