Xander Zayas vs. Jaron Ennis: Prediction
My prediction is a decision win for Ennis over Zayas, as he’s the more dynamic and athletic boxer. This will allow him to connect more punches and be defensively sound in every exchange, even though both of them are elite counterpunchers.
It’s going to be a game of inches because both are technical and superb counterpunchers. But again, the athleticism and explosiveness of Ennis will help him win the majority of the exchanges throughout the championship bout.
Another factor is how Zayas comfortably welcomes his opponents forward. I know he’s used to being on the back foot, but it’s not going to be a good look for the judges when the defending titleholder retreats from the forward pressure from the challenger.
