There was major drama at Roland Garros on Thursday morning, as preeminent French Open favorite Jannik Sinner crashed out of the second round.

Sinner, who sometimes struggles with summer heat, began experiencing bad cramps late in the third set. Leading 6-3, 6-2, 5-1, and playing as a pre-match -10000 favorite, Sinner lost 18 of his final 20 games to Juan Manuel Cerundolo.

The loss ended a 30-match winning streak for Sinner and eliminated him from Roland Garros – the final tournament he needs to complete his Career Slam.

The last nine Grand Slam events have been won by either Sinner or his chief rival, Carlos Alcaraz. With Sinner gone and Alcaraz missing the tournament completely with a wrist injury, the men’s draw is officially up for grabs.

With Jannik Sinner Out, Who Is Now Favored to Win the 2026 French Open?

The new French Open favorite is Alexander Zverev, who was previously the No. 2 name in the men’s table under Sinner.

BetMGM waited to repost the new French Open odds until Thursday’s matches ended. Zverev reopened at +190.

Bettors also have 39-year-old Novak Djokovic to consider near the top of the table. With both Alcaraz and Sinner now out of the way, the aging Serbian now has a real chance to pass Margaret Court with a 25th Slam title.

That would put Djokovic alone atop the list of players with the most Grand Slam tennis championships.
