- Oklahoma vs. Ole Miss kicks off Saturday at noon ET on ABC.
- Ole Missโ passing attack will face Oklahomaโs No. 1 EPA/pass defense.
- Oklahoma is averaging 24 points per game in SEC play.
Ole Miss and Oklahoma are set to meet for a second straight year as SEC conference foes. Last year, Oklahoma lost by double digits but covered the 19-point closing spread.
This year, the game should be much more evenly contested, with the winner staying near the top of the standings.ย
Iโve got your betting breakdown below, plus a strong recommendation from the current college football odds market.ย
Oklahoma vs. Ole Miss Odds
- Point Spread: Oklahoma -5.5
- Moneyline: Oklahoma -210ย |ย Ole Miss +170
- Over/Under: 54.5
Oklahoma vs. Ole Miss Preview
This is a Moving Day In the SEC kind of game, as the loser will drop to two losses in conference play and have an uphill climb back to conference championship contention.ย
The top feature inside the game will be the chess match between Ole Missโ passing game with Trinidad Chambliss against Oklahomaโs defense, which ranks No. 1 in EPA/pass allowed.
Both teams have strange quarterback situations. Oklahomaโs John Mateer broke a bone in his throwing hand against Auburn on Sept. 20; the Sooners rushed him through a surgery and got him back on the field as soon as possible for the Red River Rivalry game on Oct. 11. His play on the field suggests heโs still not 100%.
Regardless, Oklahoma is averaging 24 points per game in SEC contests this year.
On the other sideline, Ole Miss is still rolling with Chambliss after Austin Simmons apparently lost his starting job while recovering from his ankle injury suffered at Kentucky in Week 2.
Iโm much more interested in the total than the side in this market. Oklahoma is perceived as an offensive juggernaut because of Mateer and OC Ben Arbuckle, but the Sooners have been a dead under team this year. The market continually prices their totals a few shades too high because of the perception gap between their offensive branding and their defensive reality.ย
No Oklahoma game has broken 50 points all year. The Sooners are the only FBS team that has covered the under in every game this season.
Thus, I liked the under in this weekโs game. That was before I found out itโs expected to dump rain in Norman Saturday afternoon, which should lead to unfavorable passing conditions for the two offenses.ย
Oklahoma vs. Ole Miss Prediction
I am predicting Under 54.5 for Saturdayโs game between Ole Miss and Oklahoma.
As Saturday draws closer and the weather forecast becomes more likely to be accurate, I think this will become one of my favorite spots of the year. I expect the total to start dropping soon.ย
Prediction: Under 54.5
