What is a NRFI bet?
NRFI stands for โno run first inning,โ meaning a NRFI bet will win if no runs are scored by either team in the first inning of a baseball game.
Alternatively, you can place a YRFI bet for โyes run first inning.โ If at least one run is scored by either team, YRFI bets win.
How to bet on a NRFI bet?
It’s important to consider NRFI odds, pitching trends and statistics when placing a NRFI bet. By doing research on starting pitcher first inning performances, as well as opposing team’s offensive lineups, you can better make a decision on your NRFI bet.
NRFI and YRFI odds are available at online sportsbooks for each MLB regular-season and postseason game.
Example of a NRFI / YRFI bet:
Hereโs an example of NRFI and YRFI bets for a game between the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets:
- NRFI: -130
- YRFI: +110
If you bet $20 on NRFI at -130, the potential payout is $35.58 (including stake). If you bet $20 on YRFI at +110, the potential payout is $42 (including stake).
Perhaps the Phillies leave two baserunners stranded and donโt score in the top of the first inning. Now they must hold the Mets to zero runs for NRFI bets to cash. But the Mets hit a leadoff home run to take a 1-0 lead, which cashes the YRFI bet and returns a profit of $22.
The remainder of the inning is now irrelevant to NRFI and YRFI bets. All bets were settled the moment the leadoff hitter crossed home plate with the home run.
