Phillies vs. Braves Prediction for Game 2 NL Wild Card

  • Phillies F5 moneyline (-135)

With Sánchez on the mound, I like the Phillies’ chances of leading after five innings against the Braves on Wednesday. I’m interested in backing their F5 moneyline value in Game 2.

Initially, I was ready to take Philadelphia’s short moneyline price (-115) for the full game. However, Don Mattingly’s Game 1 bullpen decision pulled me back from that angle. He brought closer Jhoan Duran in the seventh inning.

I’m not even arguing against the decision, though it didn’t work out. Duran surrendered the go-ahead three-run home run to Austin Riley in the eighth inning of the Braves’ 5-3 victory.

However, using Duran for two innings in Game 1 makes me wonder how much he will be available to pitch on Wednesday. If Duran can’t throw more than one inning, the Phillies’ bullpen might struggle to hold the lead. They ranked last in the majors with a 5.79 ERA in September.

Backing the Phillies’ F5 moneyline price tag means betting on Sánchez to set the tone. Sánchez went 18-7 with a 2.91 ERA during the regular season, recording 231 strikeouts across 207 innings. He gave up three earned runs in two starts against the Braves this year.

The Braves struggled against left-handed pitchers in 2026, ranking 24th in wRC+. I’m expecting a slow start from them in Game 2.

Prediction: Phillies F5 moneyline (-135)
