One of the best parts of the NCAA Tournament is the upsets and underdogs making runs, especially to the second weekend.

Given the current landsscape with NIL and more, these are less frequent but still can happen.

On Field of 68: After Dark Monday, Jeff Goodman and Rob Dauster listed some potential Cinderella teams for the 2026 NCAA Tournament.

Jeff Goodman

“I think McNeese is one I can see,” he said. “They did it last year. … Javohn Garcia, he’s back. He’s done it. You bring in a guard, Larry Johnson from Creighton, and he’s a high-major guard. He can do it on both ends of the court. They have really good guards. Are they big? No. But again, I am not sure they need to be overly big to win their first round matchup.”

Rob Dauster

“I think South Florida can get past Louisville,” he said. “And I think a team that plays up tempo, that can put up points in a hurry, is a threat to Michigan State.

“… I like the Hofstra-Akron region. Both of those teams have talented guards. Neither Texas Tech nor Alabama is really the best defensive team you’re going to find. If you catch them on a night they aren’t making shots, one of them could advance.

“… I am still going to say High Point is a threat. High Point has really good guards, and they have high-major bigs. I know how good Wisconsin is, but they have also taken some weird losses this year. They are not a great defensive team.”
