Last season, the SEC won its first national championship in men’s college basketball since 2012. Florida dominated in March, winning the SEC conference championship on its way to a perfect March Madness run.

With the SEC winning increased attention for its men’s college basketball product, there will be a little extra focus on the SEC conference tournament – and the accompanying automatic bid – this March.

With no clear top team in 2026, any of the seven or eight top contenders could realistically win the SEC men’s basketball tournament.

Or, even more fun: An unlikely bid-stealer could rise from the bottom of the conference standings and play its way into March Madness the old-fashioned way.

Here’s the current layout of the SEC men’s basketball tournament, if the season ended today.
