Browns vs Jaguars Prediction

Based on Cleveland’s offensive record against bad defenses and the Jaguars’ matchup edges on defense, my Jaguars vs Browns prediction is the Browns Under 17.5 Points.

While Jacksonville profiles as a massive defensive regression candidate, I’ll be surprised if it comes in this game.

The Browns offense, despite playing almost exclusively bad defenses last year, struggled to score. Cleveland set the floor with a -33.9% offensive DVOA rating, per FTN Fantasy.

When the Browns cleared this number, it came against the worst of the worst. The Browns scored 18+ in six games last year, with four coming against defenses 24th or worse in DVOA.

On occasions where they succeeded against good defenses, it required luck.

Take a 24-point performance against the Raiders. Cleveland scored on a drive that started from the Raiders’ 13-yard line and added a 66-yard touchdown pass.

It’s unlikely to happen against a Jaguars defense that ranked sixth in defensive DVOA. Takeaways drove the rating, but bettors saw Jacksonville dominate the worst offenses.

Anthony Campanile’s unit played 10 games against teams that posted a negative offensive DVOA rating. Six stayed under this number, including four of five at home.

More concerning for Cleveland is how their offensive line holds up against the Jaguars.

The Browns enter the 2026 season having replaced the entire offensive line. Consensus ratings project Cleveland as the worst offensive line in the entire league.

It’s a particular problem against a very good Jaguars front. Josh Hines-Allen and Arik Armstead both ranked amongst the league’s best in terms of pass-rush win rate, per ESPN.

Presumably, the Browns will play from a negative game script. If either Deshaun Watson or Shedeur Sanders sees pressure, it eliminates the ability for those explosive plays.

Odds also indicate a Jaguars blowout is unlikely here, which leads to fewer garbage-time opportunities. Although the Jaguars are a lofty favorite, the total is a low 40.5 points.

Given those factors, I predict the Browns offense finishes under an admittedly low benchmark.
