Super Bowl 2026 Odds Breakdown & Analysis
Seattle winning the Super Bowl ended a long streak of market favorites winning the NFL championship.
The Seahawks began the 2025-26 NFL season priced around +6000 to win the Super Bowl. Not since the 2017 Eagles had a team closed outside +1600 to win the season before the season.
On paper, the Los Angeles Rams (+500) fit the profile of a championship team.
Last year, Sean McVay’s team lacked many weaknesses. Only poor corner play and high-variance results resigned the Rams to an NFC Championship defeat.
Los Angeles addressed those concerns this offseason, adding Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson. If there’s a catch, it’s that corner play offers extreme volatility year over year.
Plus, it will shock me if the Rams replicate their offensive record from last year. Much went right en route to a +30.7% DVOA rating, best in the NFL by a 13.1% gap after opponent adjustments.
That said, if the Rams defense improves at a faster rate than the offense regresses, it won’t matter. However, with the Rams playing a difficult schedule, the price leaves a lot to be desired.
Evaluating the rest of the board poses a separate challenge. As of Aug. 3, oddsmakers price 12 teams between +1000 and +2000.
Picking a Super Bowl winner from this group requires looking for teams owning a high defensive ceiling. A path to home-field advantage throughout the playoffs helps as well.
From a price standpoint, the Eagles (+1800) offer some intrigue. The schedule breaks favorably from an opponent standpoint, even if the Eagles face four games against teams off a bye week.
Based on 2026 NFL Win Totals, the Eagles face the league’s seventh-easiest set of opponents. Additionally, virtually all of Philadelphia’s most difficult games come at home.
Of the common NFC East opponents, Philadelphia gets the Rams, Seahawks, Texans and Colts at home. Meanwhile, Nick Sirianni’s team visits the 49ers, Cardinals, Titans and Jaguars.
Defensively, I remain confident in Vic Fangio’s unit. If there’s a cause for concern, it’s the fact the Eagles defense stayed remarkably healthy each of the last two seasons.
But the fact a two-years-removed champion is priced behind teams like the Chargers, 49ers, Bills and Chiefs – all of which trail in defensive ceiling – is mystifying to me.
