  • Myles Garrett & Aidan Hutchinson (+700) are co-favorites to win NFL DPOY.
  • Patrick Surtain II (+2500) is the first non-pass rusher on the odds board.
  • Since 2011, a pass rusher has won defensive player of the year all but two years.

Based on NFL odds, Myles Garrett and Aidan Hutchinson (+700) are co-favorites in the NFL DPOY odds.ย

For Garrett, a win in 2025 would mark his second DPOY win in the last three years. Hutchinson, who sustained an ACL injury midway through the 2024 season, has yet to claim the honor.ย

The duo begin a string of pass rushers on the defensive player of the year board.ย

Cowboys edge rusher Micah Parsons (+750) is third on the board with Steelers edge rusher Micah Parsons (+850) currently fourth.ย

After Parsons, Maxx Crosby (+1100), Will Anderson Jr. (+1200) and Nick Bosa (+1500) round out the short shots.ย ย

NFL DPOY Predictions for 2025

Josh Sweat (+10000)

Let me start with this: If Iโ€™m right about the Cowboys and Dallas makes the postseason, this award is Micah Parsonsโ€™ to lose.ย

But letโ€™s entertain the idea that Dallas doesnโ€™t make the postseason. Since 2010, only two times has a player won DPOY with his team missing the postseason.ย

That brings me to Arizona, which I think has a strong chance to reach the postseason.ย

What is most impressive about Jonathan Gannonโ€™s tenure is the rapid improvement of the defense. In 2023, Arizona finished 32nd in defensive DVOA, per ftnfantasy.com.ย

Last season, Gannonโ€™s defense jumped to 14th while playing the third-hardest set of offenses.ย

This season, bettors should expect another leap. Based on 2024 offensive DVOA ratings, the Cardinals go from the third-hardest set of offenses to the 17th-hardest.ย

Sweat immediately becomes the best pass rusher on the Cardinals after signing a lucrative deal this offseason.ย

The 2018 fourth-round pick notched double-digit sacks in two of his previous three seasons. In 2022, he spiked to 13 regular-season sacks and 15 total for the year.ย

If the Cardinals offense retains its quality โ€“ 11th in offensive DVOA last season โ€“ it creates a lot of opportunities for the pass rushers.ย

As a result, Sweat is worth a flier to win defensive player of the year in 2025.
