Reigning UFC welterweight champion Khamzat Chimaev defends his title for the first time, as he welcomes the challenge from former title challenger Sean Strickland in the main event of UFC 328 on Saturday inside the Prudential Center in Newark.

Due to his undefeated pro record and dominant run in the UFC, Chimaev heads into the championship match as the betting favorite with -550 UFC odds. Meanwhile, Strickland, who’s coming off a bounce-back victory, will be the +400 betting underdog.

UFC 328: Chimaev vs. Strickland: Prediction

I predict a submission victory for Chimaev over Strickland, as he’s the better overall grappler and has incredible strength in taking down his opponents. Even though Strickland has decent wrestling skills, I think Chimaev’s wrestling skill is a level above him.

Despite the fantastic cardio and fast-paced Strickland fights at, Chimaev will still be able to control him and take him down once he gets a hold of him. The defending champion can leverage the jabs and front kicks of Strickland to close the distance and shoot for takedowns.

Once on the ground, Chimaev can work his way into a submission maneuver and can catch Strickland in a choke since he’s expected to scramble hard to defend, but will leave his head exposed.

Khamzat Chimaev’s Recent Fight Results

Chimaev is the current undisputed UFC middleweight king and has maintained a perfect 15 -0 record. His last five victories were against Gilbert Burns, Kevin Holland, Kamaru Usman, Robert Whittaker, and Dricus Du Plessis.

Sean Strickland’s Recent Fight Results

Strickland was the former UFC middleweight champion. In his last five bouts inside the octagon, he recorded three wins against Israel Adesanya, Paulo Costa, and Anthony Hernandez, while his two losses were courtesy of Du Plessis in their two title fights.
