Ranked women’s bantamweight contender Ketlen Vieira takes on Jacqueline Cavalcanti on Saturday at UFC Vegas 117 inside the Meta APEX in Las Vegas.

Even though she’s the higher-ranked contender, Vieira will still be the betting underdog heading into the clash with +135 UFC odds. On the other hand, Cavalcanti is going to be the betting favorite with -165 odds.

UFC Vegas 117: Ketlen Vieira vs. Jacqueline Cavalcanti: Prediction

My prediction is a decision win for Cavalcanti over Vieira because she’s the better striker and the faster contender. Cavalcanti will be able to use his speed to land rapid punches and kicks during the majority of the match.

Even if Vieira is the better grappler due to her solid Brazilian jiu-jitsu background, she doesn’t seem to fully capitalize it and just hold down her opponents to nullify their striking without threatening submission or inflicting significant damage via ground-and-pound.

Takedowns without inflicting damage doesn’t score much on the judges’ scorecards and it’s not being rewarded anymore. Apart from the edge in speed for Cavalcanti, the explosiveness and athleticism will also be in her favor.

Ketlen Vieira’s Recent Fight Results

Vieira was an undefeated prospect when she was signed by the UFC in 2016. However, in her last five bouts, she has only recorded two wins against Pannie Kianzad and Macy Chiasson, dropping the other three to Raquel Pennington, Kayla Harrison, and Norma Dumont.

Jacqueline Cavalcanti’s Recent Fight Results

Cavalcanti was a former Strikers Cage Championship and LFA champion before signing with the UFC in 2023. Since her arrival to the promotion, she won all her five fights over Zarah Fairn, Josiane Nunes, Nora Cornolle, Julia Avila, and Mayra Bueno Silva.
