I like the over on the Wings’ win total (21.5) for the 2026 season, as I expect a big jump from them.
This offseason, Dallas acted like a team aiming for its first playoff appearance since 2023 after winning 19 games over the last two years. The Wings brought in head coach Jose Fernandez, who won nearly 500 games at the University of South Florida.
Dallas landed Alanna Smith and Jessica Shepard in free agency to bolster its frontcourt. Smith is coming off a co-Defensive Player of the Year campaign with the Minnesota Lynx.
The Wings also brought back Arike Ogunbowale before solidifying their backcourt by taking Azzi Fudd with the No. 1 pick.
Fudd, who played with Paige Bueckers at UConn, is one of the best shooting prospects in the history of the league. I expect Fudd to challenge Caitlin Clark’s record for most 3-pointers (122) by a rookie.
That’s all before even getting into Bueckers, who has a chance to be one of the best players in the league in her second season. Bueckers averaged 19.2 points, 5.4 assists, and 3.9 rebounds as a rookie last year.
With the addition of two expansion teams (as well as a few more rebuilding squads), there should be plenty of easy wins for playoff-bound franchises this year. The Wings must take care of business in those matchups, but I like their chances of clearing this win total.
