- Colombia is predicted to be a 1.5-goal favorite against DR Congo.
- Colombia has won six of its last seven World Cup Group Stage matches.
- My Colombia vs DR Congo prediction is the Total Under 2.5 Goals (-145).
DR Congo will try to take positive momentum into Matchday 2 against leaders Colombia.
Congo secured a point as 1.5-goal underdogs against Portugal on Matchday 1. Yoanne Wissa scored an equalizer late in first-half stoppage time before a goalless second half.
Colombia cruised to a 3-1 win over Uzbekistan on Matchday 1 in Guadalajara. With Portugal dropping points, the CONMEBOL side sits atop Group K after Matchday 1.

DR Congo vs Colombia Prediction
Based on some unlikely goals in Colombia’s opening match and Congo’s defensive record, my Colombia vs DR Congo prediction is the Total Under 2.5 Goals (-145).
My enthusiasm here is relatively low, especially given the price. Viewed as a straight-up prediction, however, it’s the under or nothing for this match.
Colombia slotted home three goals against Uzbekistan’s defense on Matchday 1. The match featured four goals, but how those goals were scored deserves acknowledgment.
In the second half, Uzbekistan scored to level the match at 1-1. But their goal came after Colombia’s keeper saved a shot off his own post, landing at Uzbekistan’s attacker.
An easy finish changed the entire dynamic of the game. From there, Colombia benefitted from a goalkeeper error to score its second goal before adding a third on 100 minutes.
I wonder how the rest of the match plays out if Uzbekistan fails to score its equalizer. Outside that chance, Colombia surrendered next to nothing in defense.
Congo, meanwhile, offers a more tricky defensive assessment. The unit looked good against Portugal, surrendering under one expected goal for the match.
But my perspective is that the match said more about Portugal’s attacking issues than Congo’s defensive strength.
At the same time, Congo left me unimpressed against a rotated Portugal defense. It leaves me questioning how they’ll fare against a disciplined Colombia defense.
Add in the transition from indoor Houston Stadium to playing in Guadalajara at altitude, and I predict a low-scoring fixture on Tuesday.
