College Basketball Betting Odds & Lines
One year after the first-ever canceled NCAA Tournament, 68 teams earned at-large and automatic bids into the first NCAA Tournament played entirely in one state.
College basketball avoided the mass opt-outs that swept across college football and had 347 teams start the 2020-21 college hoops season, giving fans thousands of opportunities to bet online with spreads, parlays, teasers, and more. Sixty-eight of those teams arrived at six different venues across Indiana in March in search of buzzer beaters, program-changing runs, a Final Four bid, and ultimately a national championship. College basketball betting fans, you spend all year dreaming of this!
Several contenders were eliminated in an opening weekend filled with madness, including three Big Ten teams that entered March with Final Four hopes, en route to breaking the 1986 record for the highest average seed (5.88) in the Sweet 16. And with Virginia ousted by Ohio in the First Round, there won’t be a repeat national champion for the 28th consecutive tournament. Not since Duke won back-to-back championships in 1991 and 1992 has a team joined the Blue Devils and four other programs (UCLA, Cincinnati, San Francisco, and Kentucky) as the only back-to-back champions in NCAA Tournament history.
A lot has changed in NCAA basketball since Virginia cut down the nets in Minneapolis in April 2019. More than 100 programs have changed coaches in the last two years, and one program left for Division II (Savannah State). UConn headlined seven teams that changed conferences, and four teams joined Division I, though none, including 2020 Northeast Conference champion Merrimack, were eligible for the 2020 or 2021 NCAA Tournaments.
