PGA Championship Odds

The 2021 PGA Championship was a return to normalcy after a delayed 2020 championship was played during the most unconventional season ever. And, although Phil Mickelson shocked the field by rising from +20000 in pre-tournament golf odds to become the oldest major champion ever, it followed a familiar script for American golfers.

Americans dominated most of the first eight decades of the U.S. PGA Championship but were routinely outplayed by foreign adversaries throughout the 1990s and again from 2008-15. In winning the Wanamaker Trophy at Oakland Hills in 2008, Padraig Harrington was the first of five non-American golfers to win the tournament over the next eight years. That streak ended with Jimmy Walker’s triumph at Baltusrol in 2016, the first of six straight wins for Americans.

Whether you like Mickelson to join Brooks Koepka, Tiger Woods, and five others as the only back-to-back winners in tournament history, Koepka to become the sixth golfer with three championships, Dustin Johnson to extend the Americans’ streak to seven years, or Jon Rahm, Rory McIlroy, or another non-American to win for the first time since 2015, BetMGM is your ticket for PGA Championship betting this season.

Johnson has routinely sat atop golf betting odds since back-to-back top-10 finishes at the PGA Championship in 2009 and 2010, but the South Carolina native is still seeking his first Wanamaker Trophy. He has six top-10 finishes over the last 12 years, including consecutive second-place finishes in 2019 and 2020 before missing the cut in 2021. The second-place finish at Harding Park in 2020 at Harding Park gave him at least one top-10 major finish in 11 of the last 12 years, a run that includes his breakthrough three-stroke victory at the 2016 U.S. Open. The consecutive second-place finishes also came on the heels of the worst three-year run of Johnson’s career at the PGA Championship. He was cut in 2016, finished 13th in 2017, and finished 27th in 2018.
