US Open Championship
U.S. Open Betting Odds
Thirteen years after Tiger Woods defeated Rocco Mediate in a 19-hole playoff to cap one of the most thrilling tournaments in golf history, the U.S. Open is returning to Torrey Pines. And while Woods nor Mediate will be in the field, the 2021 U.S. Open will be highly entertaining as Bryson DeChambeau seeks a repeat win – and a seventh straight win for American golfers – and other golf betting favorites chase the coveted championship.
If DeChambeau successfully defends his championship, nine months after cruising to a six-shot victory at Winged Foot, he’ll join Brooks Koepka, Ben Hogan, and others in an exclusive club of back-to-back winners. When Hogan won the U.S. Open in 1950 and 1951, his second and third of four career U.S. Open wins, he became the fifth back-to-back champion. It didn’t happen again until Koepka went back-to-back at Erin Hills and Shinnecock Hills in 2017 and 2018, respectively.
Koepka missed last year’s U.S. Open because of lingering hip and knee injuries – his first missed U.S. Open since 2013 – but is expected back at Torrey Pines this summer as one of nine golfers earning an entrance exemption after winning a U.S. Open within the last 10 years. The rest of the 156-player field is built from the top 10 of last year’s final leaderboard, recent major winners, amateur champions, and other exemptions.
