There are 16 college football games involving AP Top 25 teams this week. That includes six games with both teams ranked and four with both teams ranked inside the top 15.
It’s an absolutely loaded week for college football betting.
Here are thoughts and odds for all 16 games featuring a ranked team.
No. 5 Indiana vs. No. 4 Ohio State
Indiana has the longest active winning streak in FBS football right now, but the Hoosiers could be in deep trouble on Saturday. This team is clearly not as dominant as last year, and the secondary is vulnerable to being exploited by Jeremiah Smith.
No. 7 Texas vs. Florida
This would be a great spot to bet against an overrated Texas team if Florida hadn’t been blown out at home by flailing South Carolina last week.
No. 22 LSU vs. No. 16 Mississippi State
LSU is a surprisingly huge favorite here, which tells me the market doesn’t think much of Kamario Taylor and Mississippi State on the road in Death Valley. I played LSU in my college football survivor pools.
No. 24 SMU vs. Virginia
Virginia fooled everyone with that Week 0 blowout win over NC State. Since then, the Cavaliers have looked incredibly unimpressive.
Michigan State vs. No. 25 Northwestern
This is Northwestern’s first game as a ranked team since 2020. It appears the Wildcats are getting the good version of Chip Kelly.
No. 1 Georgia vs. Auburn
After winning at Alabama last week, Georgia is one of the biggest college football favorites of Week 7.
No. 14 Tennessee vs. No. 6 Alabama
I haven’t seen much from Tennessee this year that makes me think they’re a legit top-20 team. The offense, which is supposed to be Josh Heupel’s area of strength, appears to be a huge mess. I would lay it with Alabama in this spot.
No. 9 Ole Miss vs. No. 13 Missouri
Missouri has the defense to match up with Ole Miss’ offense. The question is whether or not Ole Miss has the defense to stop Missouri’s passing game. I like the points with Missouri.
No. 10 Texas Tech vs. Arizona State
Texas Tech’s actual on-field product continues to be overlooked by markets and national media. Should this offense be giving 14 and the hook to any competent team? I would argue no.
No. 3 Miami vs. Florida State
Florida State has been an enigma to many bettors this season, which could make a side in this game hard to arrive at. Regardless, this should be the best team Miami has played this season.
No. 8 BYU vs. No. 2 Notre Dame
This week’s College GameDay location is Provo, where the Big 12 plays arguably its biggest game of the regular season against a lightly tested Notre Dame team. I’ll be rooting for BYU, but my football brain is warning me that Notre Dame’s offensive line and heavy personnel will overwhelm a Cougars team that ranks 77th in EPA/rush allowed.
No. 12 UCLA vs. Wisconsin
If UCLA is such a hot commodity after beating Oregon, why are the Bruins such a short home favorite against unranked Wisconsin? Why did this number quickly move from UCLA -3.5 to UCLA -2.5 in the early days of this week? Tread carefully with the square favorite.
Oklahoma vs. No. 15 Kentucky
Oklahoma is an unranked favorite against a Kentucky team that’s shot the moon with two-point conversions in overtime in consecutive weeks. The Sooners are one of my favorite bets of the week.
No. 20 Houston vs. No. 18 Oklahoma State
Oklahoma State is the dog in this game, but I really like Mestemaker’s passing matchup against Houston’s defensive backfield. I think the Cowboys’ moneyline makes a decent round robin leg.
Colorado vs. No. 11 Utah
This is a big number for a road favorite, but we haven’t seen anything from Colorado in the last month that suggests they can compete in this game.
Cal vs. No. 21 Wake Forest
Cal has changed its offensive staff around in the last two weeks, but the market may not have accounted for that yet. This looks like a good time to grab Cal as an undervalued home dog.
