It’s hard to believe that college football’s 2026 regular season is already halfway done.

Fortunately, there’s still several weeks of college football odds left to parse at BetMGM. That means I’m still digging into the early market at the beginning of the week to look for bets.

As usual, these are games I’m spotlighting to get involved with now, before the market potentially moves throughout the week, leaving bettors with a less favorable number.

James Madison vs. Georgia State Prediction

JMU is once again on my fade week after I successfully predicted a Georgia Southern cover in last week’s early Week 6 bets column.

This appears to be the game that will decide the Sun Belt’s eastern division, which not many people would have guessed before the 2026 season got underway. Georgia State – normally a bottom-feeder in the East – appears to have put together one of the best offenses in the conference.

Georgia State ranks 23rd nationally in yards per play and 16th nationally in EPA/pass. JMU’s defense is decent, but nowhere near what it’s been in recent years.

I like Georgia State to stay inside the number during a very distracted week in Harrisonburg. And while this number could move toward JMU, it’s just as possible that continued sharp action carries over from last week, and this number moves inside of 10. Forward-thinking bettors should want to guard against the latter.

Prediction: Georgia State +11.5

Michigan vs. Penn State Prediction

I just don’t see why this total is on the high side of a key number like 42.5.

Yes, this is a low total for a college football game. But both Michigan and Penn State have bad offenses and dreadful run games. This is most likely to be an ugly game led by defenses, long third downs, and punting.

Michigan has played three games so far against P4 opponents. The games have finished with 27, 39, and 34 total points. Why should we believe Penn State and its deeply mediocre offense would be any different in a road game in Ann Arbor?

Prediction: Under 42.5

Early College Football Bets for Week 7

  • Georgia State +11.5
  • Michigan/Penn State Under 42.5
