The Week 6 college football odds are here, and this board is juicy. A lot of interesting sides and attractive numbers are worth exploring.
Make sure to come back later in the week to catch my best bets column. I’m guessing it’ll be longer than usual.
For now, consider these two sides. If these lines move between now and Saturday, late-arriving bettors will lose real value.
Kansas State vs. Houston Prediction
The Houston defense has been surprisingly average this year. That’s one of many reasons why Collin Klein’s team is a short home favorite against the No. 20 Cougars in a great Big 12 game this week.
The Wildcats are off a bye, but they’re also playing in the aftermath of a wonky Week 4 loss at Cincinnati that suppressed their market value. That could be why this number is -2.5 instead of -3.5.
Another element to consider: Unranked favorites playing against ranked dogs show historically strong returns in college football betting.
If you want the K-State side of this game, you’ll want to make sure you bet it early before it goes to Kansas State -3.
Prediction: Kansas State -2.5
James Madison vs. Georgia Southern Prediction
I’m always happy to see JMU – my alma mater – dominating the G6 competition. So far, that’s what’s happened this season in Year 1 of the Sun Belt Billy revival.
After most of last year’s playoff team either graduated or left for UCLA, JMU is somehow 5-0 and ranks 18th nationally in EPA/play.
That’s the good news. The bad news is that JMU’s opponents, thus far, have not exactly blown anyone away. Week 2 was a Wagner team that’s barely a Div. I program that gave up 87 points to the Dukes.
In Week 3, it was a road game against San Diego State – this should have been a big program win, but it turns out the Aztecs may have been in the early stages of a Mumps team epidemic.
Early Sun Belt games against ODU and Marshall have been total walkovers, with the Monarchs and Thundering Herd serving as arguably the biggest disappointments in the Sun Belt.
This week’s trip to Georgia Southern has the look of a serious conference challenge. The Eagles’ record reads 2-3, but they’re 1-0 in Sun Belt play and have the scheme to exploit an underwhelming JMU secondary.
They’ve also never lost to JMU in Statesboro – and JMU has been pretty good since arriving in FBS in 2022!
The nut opener here was JMU -10, and that’s already up to JMU -8 on early sharp Georgia Southern action.
If you want to play this game, it’s important to grab Southern before the number hits +7. I like the moneyline, too.
Prediction: Georgia Southern +8
Early College Football Bets for Week 6
- Kansas State -2.5
- Georgia Southern +8
