Memphis may have been looking, because the previously undefeated Tigers stubbed their toe at UAB last weekend. That does make their path to the AAC title game harder; it certainly makes a CFP bid more unlikely.
But nothing about last week’s performance should impact Memphis this Saturday, and the Tigers historically have played USF quite well. Memphis has won four straight games against USF and is 7-1 against the Bulls since 2013.
South Florida will probably struggle to contain Memphis’ ground game, which ranks No. 1 nationally in EPA/rush. However, USF may have the best strategic advantage in the game – the ability to exploit Memphis’ leaky back end with quarterback Byrum Brown.
