Dodgers vs. Blue Jays Player Props: Game 1 World Series Predictions

Get ready for an exciting matchup in Game 1 of the World Series when the Toronto Blue Jays host the Los Angeles Dodgers at 8 p.m. ET on Friday at the Rogers Centre on FOX.

Toronto will give the ball to Trey Yesavage, who is the second-youngest Game 1 starting pitcher in World Series history at 22 years and 88 days old. Ralph Branca (21 years, 267 days) started for the Dodgers in the opener of the 1947 World Series.

For Friday’s Game 1, Los Angeles will counter with 32-year-old lefty Blake Snell. He’s been brilliant this postseason, allowing two runs on six hits across three starts.

Blake Snell Over 17.5 Outs

Snell has been as advertised for the Dodgers this postseason after signing a five-year, $182 million contract last winter. After posting a 2.35 ERA in the regular season, Snell has a 0.86 ERA in the playoffs.

More importantly, Snell has provided length. He’s pitched at least six innings in all three starts, which is a promising sign for a pitcher who was once pulled before the end of the fifth in a World Series start in 2020.

Snell has delivered for the Dodgers this month, and they’ve desperately needed it due to their lack of faith in the bullpen. A Los Angeles starter has completed at least six innings in eight of the 10 games so far this postseason.

I like the value on this over.

Trey Yesavage Under 5.5 Strikeouts

It’s been a wild season for the rookie right-hander. Yesavage started the year in Single-A before making three regular-season starts for the Blue Jays in September. He’s since gotten the ball three times this postseason.

Yesavage has the potential to be a special pitcher, but I’m betting against him on the biggest stage of his career. He’s already shown some blow-up potential, allowing five runs in four innings against the Seattle Mariners in the ALCS.

Given that the Blue Jays have had a few days off, I expect them to be more aggressive with the bullpen approach. Yesavage’s outs prop of 14.5 indicates he could be pulled before the fifth inning, which has led to a lower strikeout projection.

I project below five strikeouts in four innings for Yesavage.
