Will Taylor Ward hit a home run today?
When assessing Friday’s home run market, I recommend focusing on an AL West matchup between the Los Angeles Angels and Oakland Athletics at Angel Stadium. The wind is expected to blow out, which could lead to an increase in home runs.
According to Ballpark Pal’s model, this matchup has the most significant increase in potential home runs (12%) for the entire slate.
Oakland’s Brent Rooker, a popular trade candidate with 24 home runs, has the best chance of going deep. But his +300 home run price reflects that, so I’ve opted for a different bet.
Angels outfielder Taylor Ward, who is also one of the top trade targets, is my favorite bet at his current value. Ballpark Pal’s fair price on Ward hitting a homer is +408.
Ward hasn’t hit a home run this month, with his 14th homer of the year recorded on June 25 against Oakland.Â
But his advanced metrics suggest he’s due for a solid second half, and he’s already hit one home run in only six career at-bats against Athletics starter Paul Blackburn.
I will bet on Ward’s home run odds at +525 or better.
