AL Cy Young Odds 2026: Favorites

New York Yankees right-hander Cam Schlittler was the betting favorite before BetMGM pulled the AL Cy Young odds market in mid-September. His -1400 value implied a 93.33% probability.

After opening the preseason at +4000, Schlittler was one of the 2026 season’s breakout players. But Schlittler didn’t become the AL Cy Young favorite until early May, when Tarik Skubal had elbow surgery. Skubal had been the favorite since the market opened.

Skubal opened the year at +300 following back-to-back Cy Young wins, becoming the first repeat winner since Jacob deGrom in 2018 and 2019. The last American League pitcher to do so was Pedro Martínez in 1999 and 2000.

Prediction: Cam Schlittler

Schlittler, a 6-foot-6 righty, had a breakout second MLB season after being selected in the seventh round of the 2022 draft out of Northeastern. Schlittler finished 14-6 with a 1.95 ERA through 33 starts, whiffing 239 batters across 193 2/3 innings. He produced a 7.0 bWAR.

NL Cy Young Odds 2026: Favorites

Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Jacob Misiorowski closed as the betting favorite to win the National League Cy Young award. At -10000, Misiorowski had an implied probability of 99.01%.

Misiorowski became the new favorite in mid-June, passing Philadelphia Phillies lefty Cristopher Sánchez at the top of this market. Misiorowski spun a complete-game shutout on June 12, while Sánchez gave up four runs on eight hits just two days later.

Before this mid-June shuffle, Sánchez and Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Paul Skenes had traded places as favorites. Sánchez had led this market since late May, though his first stint as the frontrunner came after the opening weekend of the 2026 campaign. Whenever Sánchez wasn’t on top, Skenes led the way in the spring.

For context, the NL Cy Young race wasn’t much drama last season. Skenes started as a +400 favorite and led the race for much of the year before winning the award. Skenes spun a 1.97 ERA in 32 starts. He recorded 216 strikeouts and 42 walks over 187 2/3 innings, resulting in a bWAR of 7.6.

Skenes became the first unanimous NL Cy Young winner since Sandy Alcántara in 2022 and just the fifth in the past two decades. He’s the third Pirates pitcher to win the award, joining Doug Drabek (1990) and Vern Law (1960).

NL Cy Young Prediction 2026

Prediction: Jacob Misiorowski

Misiorowski deserves to win a Cy Young award. In his second MLB season, Misiorowski has established himself as one of the league’s more talented pitchers. It’s quite the success story for the Brewers, who drafted him in the second round in 2022 out of Crowder College.

Misiorowski went 16-5 with a 1.80 ERA in 30 starts. The hard-throwing righty whiffed 252 batters in 174 2/3 innings and posted a 6.5 bWAR.
