Best & Worst MLB Teams, 2026

1. Atlanta Braves

The best record in baseball. Atlanta is firing on all cylinders and looks like the class of the NL East by a wide margin.

2. Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers continue to have a deep lineup, elite pitching, and the resources to stay dangerous all season.

3. New York Yankees

Firmly in contention in the AL East, the Yankees have the offense and bullpen depth to make a serious postseason run.

4. Tampa Bay Rays

Tampa Bay continues its remarkable run of consistently outperforming expectations, built on deep pitching and fundamental baseball.

5. Milwaukee Brewers

Milwaukee leads the NL Central and continues to punch above its market size with excellent pitching development.

6. Cleveland Guardians

Cleveland has started to pull away in a weak division race.

7. San Diego Padres

The Padres look like a legitimate NL West challenger.

8. Chicago Cubs

The Cubs have lacked consistency, but a pair of double-digit win streaks has demonstrated their potential.

9. Arizona Diamondbacks

Ketel Marte has led the charge of Arizona’s recent run to climb into playoff contention.

10. St. Louis Cardinals

So much for a rebuild. The Cardinals have been one of the biggest surprises in the NL.

11. Cincinnati Reds

Cincinnati has been a pleasant surprise, staying relevant in the NL Central with a young, energetic core.

12. Pittsburgh Pirates

Paul Skenes and Co. are hoping to guide the Pirates to their first postseason berth since 2015.

13. Philadelphia Phillies

Kyle Schwarber is off to a fast start, hitting an MLB-best 21 home runs thus far.

14. Athletics

All eyes continue to be on Nick Kurtz, who is approaching an MLB record for most consecutive games of getting on base.

15. Washington Nationals

The Nationals lead the majors in runs scored. Just as everyone predicted.

16. Chicago White Sox

Rookie Munetaka Murakami is second in the majors in home runs thus far. He was 100/1 in the preseason home run leader odds market.

17. Seattle Mariners

A slow start has Seattle treading water, though their pitching gives it a solid floor to build from.

18. Minnesota Twins

Minnesota is right in the AL Central mix after being a popular pick in the worst record market.

19. Miami Marlins

A young Miami team is 8-14 away from home this season.

20. Toronto Blue Jays

It’s been a disappointing start for a Blue Jays team that was active in the offseason after coming one game short of the World Series.

21. Texas Rangers

The Rangers’ lineup is in a funk, going 3-for-55 over the past two games.

22. Baltimore Orioles

Only one AL team has a worse run differential than the Orioles right now.

23. Houston Astros

It’s been a down year, but the Astros did record the first no-hitter of the campaign.

24. New York Mets

With a pivotal offseason of CBA negotiations looming, let the Mets be a lesson that an expensive roster doesn’t guarantee success.

25. Kansas City Royals

Bobby Witt Jr. is having an MVP-caliber season on a Royals team that has been buried in a weak division.

26. Boston Red Sox

The Red Sox have the worst home record in baseball at this point in the season.

27. Detroit Tigers

Let the Tarik Skubal trade rumors begin, assuming he can get healthy this season.

28. San Francisco Giants

San Francisco has scored the fewest runs in the NL.

29. Colorado Rockies

The Rockies are already almost halfway to last year’s win total.

30. Los Angeles Angels

The Angels are staring down their first 100-loss campaign in franchise history.
