  • First pitch is scheduled for 4:15 p.m. ET at Busch Stadium.
  • My Twins vs. Cardinals prediction is St. Louisโ€™ moneyline (+100).

The St. Louis Cardinals and Minnesota Twins will meet on Opening Day at 4:15 p.m. ET on Thursday at Busch Stadium.

While itโ€™s just one game, the opener could provide insight into two teams that underwhelmed last year. St. Louis missed the playoffs for the second straight season, while Minnesota finished fourth in the AL Central following a trip to the 2023 ALDS.

Hereโ€™s a look at the updated MLB betting lines and my Twins vs. Cardinals prediction for Opening Day.

Twins vs. Cardinals Odds: Thursday, March 27

  • Twins moneyline: -110
  • Cardinals moneyline: -110
  • Game total: 7.5 (-105/-115)

Twins vs. Cardinals Opening Day Starting Pitchers

Pablo Lรณpez will make his third straight Opening Day start for the Twins. Heโ€™s helped Minnesota defeat the Kansas City Royals in the past two openers.

Sonny Gray gets the nod for the Cardinals, marking his third Opening Day start in his career. He was supposed to start last yearโ€™s opener, but a hamstring strain in spring delayed his debut.

  • Twins starting pitcher: Pablo Lรณpez
  • Cardinals starting pitcher: Sonny Gray

Twins vs. Cardinals Prediction for Opening Day

According to the latest MLB odds market, Iโ€™m backing St. Louisโ€™ moneyline odds (+100) as my favorite Twins vs. Cardinals prediction for Opening Day.

Iโ€™m interested in backing the Cardinals as underdogs this year, at least until they start trading away some talented veterans. The market doesnโ€™t think highly of them after a quiet offseason that points to a potential rebuild.

However, this team has talent on its current roster.

Third baseman Nolan Arenado, a popular trade candidate, is swinging the bat better this spring after ranking in the 28th percentile in bat speed last year. ZiPS, a projection system at FanGraphs, has eight different St. Louis hitters projected to finish above 100 in wRC+.

Gray is also worth backing when heโ€™s on the mound. He struck out 203 batters in 166 1/3 innings last year and projects for a 3.42 ERA this season.

Royce Lewis suffered an injury in the spring, so it remains to be seen if he will be in Minnesotaโ€™s lineup on Opening Day. Either way, I like backing the Cardinals to win Game 1 at home.

Twins vs. Cardinals Prediction: Cardinals Moneyline (+100)

  • Pick made on March 18.
