Rockets Over/Under Wins 2026-27

Rockets Win Total Prediction

  • Over 47.5 wins (-110) — Pick made on Aug. 14

The Rockets might be my favorite over team in the early NBA win totals market. This comes one year after I really liked their under.

Houston finished with 52 wins in 2025-26, falling short of its closing preseason over/under of 52.5. The Rockets actually opened with a win total of 55.5 before losing Fred VanVleet for the entire season.

With VanVleet expected to return this season, I’m struggling to understand why Houston’s expectations are much lower. Did the Rockets’ first-round loss to the Los Angeles Lakers leave that much of a sour taste in everyone’s mouth?

The Rockets remain a very good team, especially in the regular season. After all, they’ve won 52 games in back-to-back years.

Houston’s 52-win campaign last year was particularly impressive because the loss of a true point guard was noticeable. They ranked 21st in offensive turnover rate and posted a losing record in clutch games.

VanVleet’s return should help the Rockets perform better in both departments, as well as the addition of veteran guard Marcus Smart. Amen Thompson, Kevin Durant, and Alperen Şengün will all benefit from a true creator.

The Rockets’ front office has accumulated a ton of talent in recent years. I trust Houston to be one of the best teams in the Western Conference once again.
