For my Spurs vs. Knicks prediction in Game 3, I’m backing San Antonio to get on the scoreboard by earning a road win tonight.
It seems like nobody can beat the Knicks right now. They haven’t lost a game since April 23, which was Game 3 of their Round 1 series with the Atlanta Hawks. Since being down 2-1 in that matchup, New York has won 13 straight contests.
However, all good things must come to an end. I think tonight is a chance for San Antonio to snap New York’s streak and create some pressure in this series.
The Spurs nearly did that in Game 2, dropping a 105-104 decision that came down to the final seconds. Jalen Brunson hit a go-ahead free throw with 9.5 seconds left after a turnover by Victor Wembanyama.
Despite the 2-0 lead after a pair of road wins, New York is only a 2.5-point favorite at home. That’s pretty telling from a betting perspective, and it’s worth remembering that the Spurs were favorites before the series began.
Assuming Wembanyama has a better performance in Game 3, the Spurs have a chance to take care of business on the road. They dropped back-to-back games against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference final before following that up with a convincing 21-point win in Game 4.
San Antonio hasn’t lost three games in a row all year. I’ll take the plus-money price on the Spurs avoiding their first three-game skid.
