The Giannis Antetokounmpo trade saga shows no signs of slowing down. For the second consecutive offseason, speculation about his future figures to consume NBA headlines.

Milwaukee managed to hold onto its franchise cornerstone last summer by pulling off a surprising sign-and-trade for Myles Turner. Still, the question looming over the league remains: Is this finally the summer Antetokounmpo leaves the Bucks for good?

Giannis Antetokounmpo Next Team Odds & Favorites

While BetMGM hasn’t posted a market for Antetokounmpo’s next destination, it’s worth monitoring the latest NBA odds should a trade materialize, as it could reshape the entire league’s competitive balance.

For reference, BetMGM did open a market last summer when trade chatter first surfaced. The Houston Rockets emerged as the early favorites, with the Golden State Warriors, Oklahoma City Thunder, San Antonio Spurs, Brooklyn Nets, Miami Heat, and the Los Angeles Lakers rounding out the leading contenders.

As rumors intensified around the trade deadline, that field narrowed considerably when ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Miami, Golden State, Minnesota Timberwolves, and New York Knicks had risen to the top of the pecking order.

That said, blockbuster deals of this scale are far easier to execute in the offseason, when teams have more flexibility to get creative. Expect the list of suitors to expand again as summer approaches. At this point, here’s how I’d rank the favorites:

  • Celtics
  • Rockets
  • Spurs
  • Knicks
  • Heat

Giannis Antetokounmpo Next Team Prediction

If Antetokounmpo is going to be moved this summer, I’m predicting that he will land with the Celtics. It’s starting to make too much sense for both sides, to be honest.

For Antetokounmpo, his focus is on winning another championship. Since winning the 2021 NBA Finals, the Bucks have won just one playoff series over the last five years. They didn’t even make the play-in tournament in 2025-26, finishing 32-50 on the year.

The Celtics, meanwhile, are coming off a Round 1 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers after a 56-26 campaign. Based on betting odds, it was the fifth-biggest series upset in NBA postseason history. It’s the type of performance that can push a front office to make an aggressive move.

Since winning the 2024 NBA Finals, the Celtics haven’t even made it back to the ECF. They’ve become a team that’s built on winning the 3-point math, but they could use some interior force on both ends of the floor. Hello, Antetokounmpo.

For Boston to make the money work, there is a good chance that Jaylen Brown has to be involved in the deal. However, his recent public comments suggest he’s ready to be the top option on a team. Could Brown end up with the Atlanta Hawks in a three-team deal that sends draft capital to the Bucks and Antetokounmpo to Boston?

Giannis Antetokounmpo Contract

Antetokounmpo, 31, has been in Milwaukee for 13 seasons since he was selected No. 15 in the 2013 NBA draft.

Antetokounmpo has two more years left on his contract before becoming an unrestricted free agent, though he has a player option entering the 2027-28 season.

  • 2026-27: $58,456,490
  • 2027-28: $62,786,601 (player option)
