How do you follow up on a dominant 36-win season that ends with an SEC Tournament title and a national championship?

Answer: You don’t. Florida lost way too much talent from last year’s national championship team and will face a much stiffer test this month.

The Gators ran into a hot Vanderbilt team in the conference semifinals and bowed out of the conference tournament. Their most likely Elite 8 matchup is Houston – the team they faced and miraculously overcame in the final minutes of last year’s title game.

Still, Florida is a No. 1 seed for a reason this year, and Florida basketball odds have exploded as a popular target since the Gators nabbed the final No. 1 seed in the bracket.

On the grand continuum of title defenses, Florida should be able to offer a pretty good one.
