Below, bettors can find my Week 5 anytime TD scorer predictions based on NFL odds.
This week, I’ve identified a potential buy-low spot on a tight end that has failed to score in two straight. I’m also targeting a running back in a favorable home matchup.
Let’s dive into the predictions. Odds are reflective at time of writing and are subject to movement.
2 Best Anytime TD Scorer Predictions for Week 5
Trey McBride Anytime Touchdown (+110) vs Detroit Lions
McBride began the season by scoring in consecutive games. Despite a high target share in the last two games, he failed to find the end zone against San Francisco and New York (N).
The task gets much easier in Week 5. McBride faces a listless Lions defense indoors with the total set at 54.5 points. Unsurprisingly, it’s the highest number on the board.
If that weren’t enough, Detroit has struggled to defend opposing tight ends this season. Kelvin Sheppard’s unit has simultaneously failed to keep that skill group outside the end zone.
Detroit has allowed six receiving touchdowns to opposing tight ends this season. Only last week did they end their streak of keeping opposing tight ends out of the end zone.
Still, Bryce Young tossed two touchdown passes to Tetairoa McMillan. This season, Detroit has yet to allow under 1.5 passing touchdowns in any game.
Of the 11 receiving touchdowns Detroit allowed this year, six went to opposing tight ends. Look for McBride to end his drought against one of the league’s worst defenses.
MarShawn Lloyd Anytime Touchdown (+130) vs Chicago Bears
I don’t place much stock in Chicago’s recent defensive turnaround. Some luck contributed to allowing seven against the Eagles while the Jets missed a bunch of key players.
With Josh Jacobs out, Lloyd has dominated the red zone rushing share for Green Bay. He’s also played a role as a pass catcher near the goal line, scoring his lone touchdown on a pass.
Through Week 4, Lloyd’s nine red zone rushing attempts lead all Packers backs. Chris Brooks has six, but he could miss Sunday’s game.
In Week 1, Carolina played a comparable Panthers offense: average line, good skill players, streaky quarterback.
The defense allowed 37 points and four red zone chances. Chuba Hubbard scored a rushing touchdown and caught a receiving touchdown.
In Week 3, the Eagles primarily tried to score on the ground. Jalen Hurts cashed the only anytime TD ticket for Philadelphia, which gave Saquon Barkley touches near the end zone.
Given those tendencies, I predict Lloyd finds the end zone at Lambeau Field.
