  • Bryce Young closed as an underdog in every game during his rookie season.
  • The Alabama product performed much better against the spread at home.
  • Panthers proved profitable to the under in divisional matchups.

With his rookie campaign in the rearview mirror, here’s a look at how Panthers quarterback Bryce Young performed in relation to NFL betting lines.

It was a season to forget for the Alabama product, who finished 2-14 straight up while throwing only 11 touchdown passes compared to 10 interceptions.

But that only tells a small portion of Young’s story. Here’s a look at how Young performed both against the spread and against the over/under.

Bryce Young Against the Spread (ATS) Record

Young closed an underdog in all 16 of his starts this season and finished 5-10-1 against the closing number.

The Alabama product was much better at home, however, going 3-4-1 ATS in those games compared to 2-6 ATS on the road.

In addition, Young was slightly better within the division while he struggled outside of the NFC South.

Sample his six divisional matchups against the Buccaneers, Falcons and Saints and bettors will find he finished 2-3-1 ATS. In the 10 remaining games, he was 3-7 ATS.

One potential encouraging sign with Young – he was much better as the season progressed.

After starting 1-4-1 ATS in his first six games, he finished out the year 4-5 against the spread, a sample which included both of Carolina’s outright wins.

Bryce Young Over/Under Record

As a function of Young’s offensive ineptitude, the Panthers were a profitable under bet during the 2023-24 season.

Carolina finished 12-4 to the under in 16 Young starts, including four unders in their final five games.

The Panthers also saw nine of Young’s 16 starts close with a total under 40 points. In those nine games, the under was 7-2.

In the remaining six contests that closed with a total of 40 points or higher, the under cashed in all but one game.

Like his ATS record, Young finished extremely profitable to the under when it was a divisional matchup.

In those six contests, the under finished 5-1.

Most of that record can be attributed to Young’s struggles. Across all six divisional games, the Panthers offense managed only 10 points per game and never surpassed 17.
