Buccaneers vs Cowboys Prediction

Based on the Cowboys’ offensive power and an uncertainty around Tampa Bay’s ability to keep pace, my Cowboys vs Buccaneers prediction is the Cowboys Spread (-9.5, -110).

I came away more optimistic than not on the Buccaneers after Week 4’s showing. Tampa Bay covered all numbers except the close (+2.5) at home against Green Bay.

On offense, the Bucs moved the ball rather well on Green Bay’s defense. The unit averaged 4.5 yards per play and yards per rush, but it came undone by turnovers.

My worry for Thursday’s game: Can Tampa Bay keep up with a backup quarterback against a significantly better offense?

Dallas scored 30 or more in three straight games. The successes came against Washington (bad), Baltimore (better) and Houston (best).

CeeDee Lamb caught 17 passes for 189 yards in Houston. By contrast, he’ll face a much easier matchup against an injured Buccaneers secondary on short rest.

Jalon Daniels goes from playing in a game with a low total (39) to a higher benchmark (47.5 at open).

If that weren’t enough, the onus will presumably be on Daniels to stay within striking distance. On Sunday, the Cowboys defense allowed Houston to move the ball primarily through the air.

Houston averaged 7.6 yards per play – 10.2 yards per pass and 3.3 yards per rush. C.J. Stroud threw for 347 yards, 118 of which went to Nico Collins.

Daniels failed to properly exploit a bad Green Bay secondary on Sunday. It leaves me questioning how he’ll turn it around on short rest.

With this line sitting just beneath a key number, I predict the Cowboys cover the spread on Thursday.
