Monken joined Baltimore before the 2023 season. This season marks his 11th year in the NFL.

Monken started coaching in 1989 at Grand Valley State. Next, he spent two seasons with Notre Dame.

A long spell at Eastern Michigan came next:

  • 1993-97: DB’s/WR’s
  • 1998-99: OC/QB’s

Monken bounced around for the next few years:

  • 2000-01: RB’s/WR’s. LA Tech
  • 2002-04: Passing Game/WR’s, Ok. State
  • 2005-06: Passing Game/WR’s, LSU

Monken earned his first NFL job after LSU. The Jaguars hired him as a WR’s coach.

Monken returned to Ok. State after four years. For two seasons, he led the offense to great success.

Ok. State ranked second for points per game in 2011. In 2012, the Cowboys ranked third.

Monken moved to Southern Miss after his second stint with OSU. There, he worked as head coach.

A return to the NFL followed in 2016. The Bucs hired Monken as OC under HC Dirk Koetter.

Tampa Bay struggled and Monken left after 2018. In 2019, Monken spent one year as Cleveland’s OC.

Monken ran Georgia’s offense in between spells with Cleveland and Baltimore.

In 2021, Georgia employed Monken as OC when they won the national championship.

Now, Monken leads a strong Ravens offense. In two seasons, the Ravens ranked third and fourth in points per game.
