Sam Darnold proved he’s no benchwarmer in 2024 when he led the Vikings to a surprisingly strong 14-3 season.

That one-year performance was enough to earn Darnold an encore performance in Seattle. The Seahawks needed a functional solution at quarterback with Geno Smith out the door to Las Vegas.

Seattle signed Darnold to a reasonably conservative deal by quarterback standards.

If the first month of results are any indication, the Seahawks made a smart move and will be in the mix for the NFC playoffs this year.

Sam Darnold Contract

Sam Darnold signed a three-year contract with the Seahawks worth $100.5 million.

As is often the case with mid-level quarterbacks, the deal contains several performance incentives for statistical accumulation, game participation, and playoff results.

Sam Darnold Signing Bonus

Sam Darnold received a $32 million signing bonus with the Minnesota Vikings.

Sam Darnold Salary

Sam Darnold will make $37.5 million from his NFL contract in 2025. Most of that is a signing bonus, with the rest coming from his $5.3 million base salary and $200,000 workout bonus.

Sam Darnold Guaranteed Money

Sam Darnold’s 2025 contract contained $37.5 million in guaranteed money at the time it was signed. The Seahawks only guaranteed his 2025 compensation up front.

An additional $17.5 million becomes guaranteed in the opening days of the 2026 NFL calendar.

Sam Darnold Teams

Sam Darnold was drafted by the Jets in 2018, where he was rostered for three seasons. He has since played for the Panthers (2021-22), 49ers (2023), and Vikings (2024).

The Seahawks are his fifth team.
