After a team wins the Super Bowl, the Lombardi Trophy permanently remains with the organization that won it.

It would be very difficult, in practical terms, for every coach, player and organizational support staff member to take turns sharing an individual trophy. It would also be prohibitively expensive to make everyone an exact copy of the Lombardi trophy, made of sterling silver.

Instead, the team keeps the original trophy, and smaller replicas (worth about $1,000 each) are distributed to all the players, in addition to the Super Bowl rings that everyone also receives.

Unlike the Stanley Cup, which is reengraved and passed onto the next winning team annually, a new Lombardi Trophy is made every for every successive Super Bowl.
