The PGA Tour will return to the Midwest with the John Deere Classic from TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois, July 2-5.
While not a PGA Tour signature event, several stars are in the field, including Ben Griffin, Chris Gotterup and Jackson Koivun making his professional debut. This is a big week for players to take off, with the Genesis Scottish Open and Open Championship on deck.
Historically, TPC Deere Run turns into a birdie fest. The winning score has been 20-under or better in five of the last seven years.

This is not my favorite event of the year, with many players opting to rest up for the two tournaments across the Atlantic Ocean the next few weeks, so I will be keeping my card small.
Thorbjornsen hasn’t had the greatest of seasons, but he finished in 16th two starts ago at the Charles Schwab Challenge, and has a solid history at TPC Deere Run. In three appearances, he’s finished T-21, T-2 and T-17.
Historically, this has been an event where players have broken through for their first win, and Thorbjornsen certainly fits that bill.
The attention may have gone to other young stars of late, but don’t forget he was at the top of the PGA Tour University rankings in 2024, giving him his PGA Tour card.
