One-and-Done Golf Picks for the Genesis Scottish Open

Below, I’ve outlined three players worth a look for OAD pools this week at the Genesis Scottish Open.

For those unfamiliar, OAD pools closely mirror an NFL survivor contest. Players select a golfer each week and earn their prize money at the conclusion of the event.

The catch? Contestants can only use a player once. Additionally, not all prize pools are created equally, which further adds to the game theory.

Wyndham Clark

Clark winning a second straight major championship next week at Royal Birkdale would come as a surprise. Not because he can’t do it, but more so because of the field strength.

It makes him an intriguing OAD pick at the Renaissance Club. Course history offers the first indicator as he finished no worse than 25th here in four starts, including two straight top-15s.

He also won his first U.S. Open at LACC, a correlative setup to the Renaissance Club.

Players have also seen some good approach numbers from Clark recently. For the year, he ranks 15th in scoring opportunities inside 15 feet. Over the last 30 rounds: 22nd.

He gained off the tee and on approach in three of his last five starts. Regarding his iron play, Clark spiked to +1.9 SG: APP or higher in seven of his last 20 rounds.

Add in strong putting metrics recently, and I like burning Clark at a familiar setup.

Xander Schauffele

Unless you think Schauffele can win at Birkdale next week, Schauffele offers another fairly safe floor at the Renaissance Club.

The two-time major winner won here in 2022. Last year, he finished T-8th for a second consecutive top-15 finish.

Schauffele has gained strokes off the tee in every start since the Players Championship. Dating back to the WM Phoenix Open, the San Diego native lost strokes OTT once.

Iron results have fallen off a bit with Schauffele losing strokes on approach in three of his last five. However, he ranks fourth in SG: APP this year when it’s “difficult” or “very difficult” to gain.

The putter has started to work its way around, too. Schauffele spiked to +0.96 strokes putting at the U.S. Open after reaching +1.87 at the PGA Championship.

Those factors lead me to Schauffele as a one-and-done consideration in Scotland.

Ludvig Aberg

I’m willing to plant a flag and say that Aberg won’t win the Open next week. But if his recent finishes at the Renaissance Club serve as an indicator, he has a good chance this week.

Aberg recorded two top-eight finishes, including a T-4th in 2024, at this track. Despite missing the cut in 2023, the Swede gained strokes ball striking in all three appearances.

Putting improvement helped me from -1.91 in 2023 to +0.97 in 2024 before hitting +1.15 in 2025.

Since May 1, Aberg ranks 13th in SG: OTT and fifth in SG: BS within this field. A 59th-place rating in SG: Putting won’t look good, but he gained in three of his last four.

Only three players outpace Aberg in SG: APP over the last 30 measured rounds.

At a course that rewards his strong mixture of driving accuracy plus distance, I like Aberg’s profile in a small prize pool.
