The PGA Championship is one of four golf majors held every year since 1916.

It has visited North Carolina only a few times, including most recently in 2017 when Justin Thomas won at Quail Hollow to claim his first career major.

It will return to Quail Hollow in 2025, where Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, and Viktor Hovland will likely be the golf betting favorites.

2017- Quail Hollow, Justin Thomas

Thomas picked up his first career major victory. He finished at 8-under, which gave him a two-stroke victory over Francesco Molinari, Louis Oosthuizen and Patrick Reed. Thomas began the final round two shots back but fired a 68 to pick up the win.

1974- Tanglewood Park, Lee Trevino

Trevino claimed his first PGA Championship in 1974. He finished at 4-under, which was good for a one-shot win over Jack Nicklaus. It was the first of two PGA Championships for Trevino and was the fifth of Trevino’s six major titles. Nicklaus was the runner-up to Trevino in a major for the fourth and final time.

1936- Pinehurst No. 2, Denny Shute

Pinehurst No. 2 hosted its first and only PGA Championship this year, and Denny Shute was the winner. Back then, the event was match play, and Shute defeated Jimmy Thomson 3 and 2 in the final match. Shute won the tournament the following year as well.
