Leading the Atlanta Falcons by four points with three minutes remaining in a Week 15 game on Dec. 20, 2020, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers faced 3rd-and-16 from their own 38-yard line. The Bucs, a heavy favorite in NFL betting odds, could effectively end the game with a first-down conversion because the Falcons had zero timeouts.
Tom Brady threw a short pass to LeSean McCoy, who gained 13 yards and gave Brady 390 passing yards in the game. The Bucs didn’t go for it on fourth down and, en route to a win after stopping the Falcons on their next drive, Brady didn’t attempt another pass, leaving him 10 yards shy of his 11th career 400-yard game.
It was almost Brady’s first 400-yard game since 2017 when he threw for 447 yards in a win over the New Orleans Saints. That 447-yard performance fell just shy of setting his single-game passing yardage record.
