The first scheduled fight in the upcoming UFC Mexico card on Saturday will be the bantamweight matchup between Santiago Luna and Ángel Pacheco. They are set to meet inside Arena CDMX.

Both are vicious finishers, but Luna will be the betting favorite with -550 UFC odds. On the other hand, Pacheco is going to be the betting underdog with +400 odds, due mainly to the three losses in his pro record.

UFC Mexico: Santiago Luna vs. Angel Pacheco: Prediction

My prediction is a decision win for Luna over Pacheco because he’s not only the quicker and younger fighter, but also the more well-rounded athlete. Although both fighters love to stand and bang in their fights, I think Luna will mix up his attacks with grappling.

Luna’s only chink in his armor is his fighting stance, where he tends to be more hittable because he doesn’t tuck his head behind his arms. This makes him vulnerable to jabs and one-two punch combinations, like what happened in the early stage of his fight with Quang Le.

On the other hand, Pacheco is a very durable fighter with veteran wits. However, he struggles in defending takedowns because he prefers to fight on the feet. This fighting approach allows him to throw his combinations and inflict significant damage.

Santiago Luna’s Recent Fight Results

Luna is an undefeated MMA contender from Mexico. He won six pro fights outside the UFC before he was signed by the promotion last year. Luna was pitted against Le in his octagon debut and quickly made a statement with a first-round stoppage victory.

Kevin Pacheco’s Recent Fight Results

Pacheco was the former Bud Brawl titleholder before he decided to join Dana White’s Contender Series in September 2023. He lost his fight to Danny Silva but was still signed by the UFC. His promotional debut was against Caolan Loughran in March 2024, but he lost via unanimous decision.
