Former UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya is back in action this Saturday as he takes on the surging contender Joe Pyfer in the main event of UFC Seattle at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle.

Even though he’s on a three-fight losing streak, Adesanya still heads into the match as the betting favorite with -150 UFC odds, while Pyfer, who’s on a three-fight win streak, will be the +125 betting underdog.

UFC Seattle: Adesanya vs. Pyfer: Prediction

I predict a unanimous decision win for Adesanya over Pyfer because he’s the more diverse and quicker striker. Adesanya can also use his reach and leg reach advantages to keep Pyfer at bay and avoid a firefight with him, especially knowing that he has an atomic right-hand punch.

The speed and variety of Adesanya can neutralize the power and explosiveness of Pyfer. I think the former UFC middleweight king will double down on attacking the lead leg of Pyfer because he puts too much weight on it. He does this to load up power for his punches.

If Adesanya can damage the legs of Pyfer, he’ll be forced to use his grappling and Brazilian jiu-jitsu skills to score points on the judges’ scorecards. But the takedown defense of Adesanya will be enough to stop the majority of the attempts of Pyfer en route to a decision victory.

Israel Adesanya’s Recent Fight Results

Adesanya was the former undisputed UFC middleweight king, but in his last five fights, he has only recorded one win over Alex Pereira in their rematch. He dropped the other four to Pereira (in their first meeting), Sean Strickland, Dricus Du Plessis, and Nassourdine Imavov.

Joe Pyfer’s Recent Fight Results

Pyfer is a product of Dana White’s Contender Series in 2022. He has only dropped one fight in his last five, a loss to Jack Hermansson, but has won the other four against Abdul Razak Alhassan, Marc-Andre Barriault, Kelvin Gastelum, and most recently, Abus Magomedov.
