  • Israel Adesanya was the former UFC Middleweight Champion.
  • Adesanya lost to Sean Strickland in the main event of UFC 293.
  • An immediate rematch between Adesanya and Strickland is targeted.

Israel Adesanya suffered a gigantic upset from Sean Strickland in the main event of UFC 293, which went down inside the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia, last Sept. 9, 2023. Adesanya failed to find a hole in Strickland’s tight defense and yielded to the challenger’s non-stop forward pressure throughout the fight. He also absorbed the most damage as “Tarzan” landed more significant strikes.

Despite this latest setback, “The Last Stylebender” remains one of UFC’s biggest stars and a perpetual favorite in online sports betting via the UFC odds. But will the Nigerian-New Zealander get an outright rematch against Strickland for his next fight?

When Is Israel Adesanya’s Next Fight?

In the post-fight interview, UFC President Dana White is keen on making an immediate rematch between the two despite Strickland’s lopsided and dominant performance over Adesanya. White that a second fight is interesting. There is no official announcement yet because Strickland and Adesanya would need some time off to recover.
