UFC Vegas 113: Jailton Almeida vs. Rizvan Kuniev: Prediction

With his Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and better grappling skills, I predict that Almeida will submit Kuniev. In his UFC debut, Kuniev had problems with Curtis Blaydes’ wrestling and takedowns, especially in the early stages of the fight, which is why I think Almeida is going to do the same.

Almeida is one of the few heavyweight contenders who has excellent submission skills, and doesn’t rely on one-punch knockout power. Although he has decent striking skills backed by his 79 inches of reach, his jiu-jitsu remains his biggest weapon in his arsenal.

Once Almeida gets a hold of Kuniev, I think he’ll be able to drag him down the mat and work his way into a submission. Even though he doesn’t get an immediate finish, Kuniev will eventually slow down because he’ll gas out as the fight goes on.

Jailton Almeida’s Recent Fight Results

Almeida was a former Thunder Fight and Fight On MMA champion before he joined Dana White’s Contender Series in September 2021. He submitted Nasrudin Nasrudinov to secure a UFC contract. He recorded eight wins and two losses in 10 UFC fights, but lost his most recent match with Alexander Volkov.

Rizvan Kuniev’s Recent Fight Results

Kuniev is also a product of Dana White’s Contender Series, where he competed twice and scored stoppage wins against Edivan Santos in September 2021 and Hugo Cunha in August 2024. In his UFC debut, he absorbed a close split decision loss to Blaydes in June.
