With one month of regular-season college football left, the clock is ticking.
That means capitalizing on college football spreads while they’re still around.
Here are two betting opportunities that jump out to me at the start of Week 10. Remember: In these early-week picks articles, we’re looking for closing line value!
South Carolina vs. Texas A&M Prediction
South Carolina has won three straight games and has somehow transformed from a team that might fire its coach to a team in the AP Top 25.
That change has prompted a major switch in how the Gamecocks are being handicapped. South Carolina has flipped from underdog spots and short favorite lines to laying more than a touchdown as a home favorite in an SEC game.
This is a common market move in college sports, especially around poll changes. And the dynamics of covering short numbers like -2.5 or +4.5 are very different from winning by a margin of multiple scores.
If you’re looking for CLV, I think this line will move to and through the seven before kickoff.
Prediction: Texas A&M +7.5
Washington vs. Penn State Prediction
I just don’t get this one. Penn State has won only one Big Ten game in Year 1 of the Matt Campbell experience and will travel all the way to Seattle for a game against Washington.
The Huskies have been a mild disappointment this year, but they can still get to bowl eligibility this week with a win against a pretty lousy Penn State squad.
This feels like it should be at least Washington -3.5. There’s value here to grab early.
Prediction: Washington -2
Early College Football Bets for Week 10
- Texas A&M +7.5
- Washington -2
