LSU has played in a lot of high-scoring games, but none are more famous than its 2018 game against Texas A&M.
The game featured seven overtimes, ultimately ending with 146 points of offense – the most points ever scored in a college football game.
In fact, the game was so ridiculous that the sport elected to reform the college football overtime rules in subsequent years. Now, teams just trade off going for two after the second overtime so that players can’t be subjected to such a brutal sequence of never-ending offensive series after a full game of football.
With the rule change now in effect, LSU’s record-breaking game against Texas A&M may never be topped.
But don’t forget about all the other wild shootouts LSU has been in beyond that crazy 2018 game. The Tigers have been on a tear with quarterbacks and receivers in recent years, which is one reason why the LSU football odds market has such a high floor.
Even in the SEC, points rarely come at a premium.
