College football is a young man’s game, and modern football is often coached by young, 30 and 40-something geniuses who cut their teeth in a new era of offense-friendly rules.
But don’t ignore the old hats, who are almost always at the top of the game. There’s usually a reason these guys have been around forever: They win.
Amusingly, North Carolina had the oldest coach in college football in 2024: 73-year-old Mack Brown. At the end of the season, the UNC leadership fired Brown and replaced him with … Bill Belichick.
The former NFL head coach is now 74 and is – you guessed it! – the oldest coach in FBS college football.
