Week 8 Odds Boost

West Virginia earned some unexpected praise and hype when it soundly beat Virginia in Charlotte in Week 3. That positive momentum disappeared after a home loss to Oklahoma State in Week 4, knocking the Mountaineers down to 0-1 in conference play.

WVU can atone for its defensive shortcomings on the road at Iowa State this week. But the early odds market prefers the Cyclones, who are far from the walkover that preseason prognosticators expected in the wake of former head coach Matt Campbell’s departure.

BetMGM has NCAA football odds available for all the Week 5 college football action.

West Virginia vs. Iowa State: Preview & Notes

West Virginia struggled to solve Iowa State during Campbell’s tenure in Ames. The Mountaineers are 0-3 straight up and ATS in Ames since 2016.

The key matchup here will be West Virginia’s explosive speed option rush game against Iowa State’s defense, which ranks 32nd in EPA/rush allowed but only 74th in defensive success rate against the run.

The under is 4-1-1 in the last six games between WVU and Iowa State.
